Minnesota United have signed Brazilian defensive midfielder, Luiz Fernando, ahead of the 2018 season.
The 22-year-old has signed on a one-year loan deal from Brazilian side Fluminense and the Loons have the option of making the move permanent at the end of the loan spell.
Fernando played 14 times for Fluminense during the 2016/17 season, and he has also played 16 times for Slovakian side STK Samorin where he had a loan spell where he unfortunately suffered an ACL tear in his right knee.
Following the acquisition, United manager Adrian Heath said:
“He will bring athleticism, strength and obviously talent.
“We have watched him over the last few months and we think he’ll be a great addition to us. He brings a different element. He is very, very physically strong, and his athleticism can break up plays.”
