Preview: Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Monday night football sees Crystal Palace take on Manchester United at Selhurst Park in an important game for both sides.

Palace have found themselves back in the relegation zone and only a win against United would see them climb out at the expense of Southampton. A win for the Red Devils would see them begin to cement a top four place as they would go nine points ahead of chasing Chelsea.

The Eagles are in a run of relegation form as they have only managed to win once in their last six games, with that win coming against Burnley back in January. It is looking bleak for the South London club, as this month they have the tough prospect of having to face Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

United come into tonight’s game in good form, winning eight of their last 11 matches. Their last game was a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford so they will be in confident mood ahead of tonight’s game and will be hoping to heap more misery on Crystal Palace.

Last them they met

The teams last met in September at Old Trafford when Crystal Palace were in the middle of that horrendous start to the season. United won the game 4-0 with goals from Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini (2) and Romelu Lukaku, and it put Palace on a seven game losing run without scoring a goal.

I think Manchester United will get the job done today and claim the three points, however I don’t think it will be easy. Palace have an unfortunate injury crisis at the moment but they still managed to give Tottenham a good game last week, they just fell to a late Harry Kane goal.
