Toronto FC take on Mexican side Tigres UANL tomorrow at BMO Field in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final. Today, head coach Greg Vanney and Jonathan Osorio addressed the media.
Osorio informed the press that the team are well prepared to face a Liga MX side, and they want to prove to the Americas that they can give the Mexican teams a good game, as well as beat them:
“The style of play changes a bit (Against a Liga MX team). We prepared well in preseason against Mexican sides. We’re excited about this challenge.
“Our objective has always been to play in this tournament. We want to prove to the Americas that we can play with the Mexican teams and beat them.”
Head coach, Greg Vanney reiterated that his team will be prepared for tomorrow night:
“Everyone has been thinking about this opportunity. I suspect there will be a lot of energy and passion on the field tomorrow night.”
He also added that his players will need to be efficient and clinical:
“When you have two good teams playing each other, it comes down to finishing your chances. It will come down to being efficient.”
Toronto come into the CCL clash against Tigres following a defeat against Columbus Crew on the opening day of the MLS season at the weekend. They will be hoping to bounce back from that defeat and be clinical in front of goal this time around.
