Toronto FC reach CONCACAF Champions League final

There were only two goals scored in the second legs of the CONCACAF Champions League semi finals, with Toronto becoming just the third MLS team to reach the final of the competition.

Club America 1 (Uribe pen 90+2’)

Toronto FC 1 (Osorio 12’)

(Toronto won 4-2 on aggregate)

An early goal for the visitors put this game to bed, after a 3-1 win in Canada last week. Jonathan Osorio gave Toronto a three-goal aggregate lead just twelve minutes into the match, and from there, they were able to defend the lead to go through to the final of the CCL. Mateus Uribe scored a penalty in stoppage time for Club America, but it would not be enough for the 7x winners to go through. Toronto advance to the final thanks to a 4-2 aggregate win.

NY Red Bulls 0

Guadalajara 0

(Guadalajara won 1-0 on aggregate)

The Red Bulls came into the second leg knowing they had to score to go through to the final. However, they were unable to do so and bowed out of the competition at the semi final stage. They went with an attacking line-up for the game at the Red Bull Arena, but Guadalajara were able to hold out for a goalless draw, securing their passage through to the final.

The final will be between Toronto FC and Guadalajara, and will take place over two legs. The first will be on Tuesday 17th April, in Canada, with the return leg in Mexico on Wednesday 25th April.
