Former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes is interested in replacing Tata Martino as manager of Atlanta United should the Argentine decide to leave the MLS side, according to The Independent.
According to the report, the 55-year-old Scotsman, who has also been linked with the USMNT job, is the first-choice replacement should Martino choose to step away from Atlanta after the season comes to an end in December.
The Five Stripes are well on their way to having a second crack at the Major League Soccer post-season, but that hasn’t stopped David Moyes from throwing his hat into the ring and holding talks with the club as Tata Martino’s future becomes unclear.
There has been no clear indication regarding Tata’s long-term plans, and his contract expires at the end of the season which has probably lead to this speculation.
During his two years in the States, Martino has developed Atlanta United into the most watchable team in Major League Soccer, so a transition to Moyes seems fairly bizarre and one I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
