Philadelphia Union forward David Accam has expressed his disappointment and regret after missing out on a move to Stoke City two years ago.
The 28-year-old Ghanaian international spoke to GHOne TV and said that a move to England was in the offing during his time at Chicago Fire until injury struck.
Accam spent time training with Stoke which he says was successful but was left disappointed after injury.
He said: “I trained with them and there were talks for me to possibly join them but injury set in.”
After beginning his career in non-league English football during his time studying, Accam was frustrated as he missed out on a return to England and playing with Stoke City, who he considers a big club.
He continued: “Yes I regret, but then everything happens for a reason, I would have loved to play in England.
“Stoke is a big club and so to me, it was an opportunity for me but I got injured. It was very disappointing.”
